John McDonough – Point Me East

John McDonough is a modern singer-songwriter who has amazing guitar skills, passionate vocals, and over 25 years of experience in the music industry. Since 2011, John has produced five albums, performed over five hundred concerts, appeared on the radio, and even toured the United States.

“Point Me East” is the fifth track in the “We’ll Answer The Call” EP, and they definitely have left the best one till last in this case. “We’ll Answer The Call” was released earlier on in the year, but it undoubtedly deserves more praise.

This track is a very slow, laid-back piece that smoothly flows. It is quite a beautiful piece, with minimal instruments, the highlight being the acoustic guitar. The song also includes a gorgeous little guitar solo, which really enables us to sit back and relax.

John’s vocals are also amazing on this track. I personally was so pleasantly surprised with his voice and found myself blown away by the time the song had finished.

I absolutely love John’s song “Point Me East,” and after hearing it, I will be taking some time to listen to some other work by him. I cannot recommend him and his song enough, and you should definitely give it a little listen to.

Kelsie Kimberlin – Fruit Basket

Kelsie Kimberlin is a young Ukrainian American singer-songwriter who has always had an immense passion for the music industry. She started off by signing in choirs and spending lots of time in music studios during her childhood. Kelsie is able to write, record, produce and film all of her music by herself. She often sends out powerful messages in her songs about social issues, like war.

After hearing numerous tracks by Kelsie before, when I stumbled across her newest single “Fruit Basket,” I was super excited to see what else she has created. With this track she had reached out to bring the world closer together, despite all the wars that are going on.

“Fruit Baskets” brings an amazing amount of positivity to the world, and really makes you want to get up and dance to it. The music is upbeat and is so contagious that it makes you want to listen to it on repeat all day.

Once again, Kelsie’s vocals are outstanding in this song. Kelsie always sings so beautifully, and her warm vocals are so mesmerising. Her voice is always one that brings everyone together, where we can all enjoy and appreciate her music.

Kelsie has even created a must watch music video to accompany her song. She went to Columbia to record it, where she appreciated the palenqueras and their colours and the ‘fruit baskets’ they had on their heads.

I, as always, am so in love with Kelsie’s track and I will be impatiently waiting for her to release more amazing music!

Lee Miller Matsos – The Only One

Lee Miller Matsos is a former opera singer and musical theatre performer, who has now gathered his talents and become a pop artist. He takes heavy influence from artists such as U2, Coldplay, and Eric Clapton. Lee has now come back and released his newest single “The Only One,” and I must say it is a good one.

“The Only One” is a soulful tune that expresses extreme emotion, vulnerability, and pain. I personally am a sucker for a sadder song, and Lee has done exceptionally well with it. This is the perfect song to make you feel like you are not alone, as Lee warms us with his voice and completely engulfs us within his music. His lyricism is absolutely beautiful, with a strong message about how some people feel like they are nearing the end, but there is always hope.

Lee Miller Matsos’ vocals are so stunning, and his voice is so warming and caring. He sings with such soul, and this really helps us enjoy the piece even more! The instrumental side is fairly simple, yet so effective. With a piano welcoming us, leading to a steadier beat with drums in the background. The beat is one that makes you feel like there is hope in the world.

If you ever find yourself stuck down a dark path, then you must give “The Only One” a little listen to, and you will not regret it.

His next release, “Life Force Lullaby” is coming out next Friday, December 9th.

Pamela Hopkins – Squirrel Train

Pamela Hopkins, from Arkansas, United States, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Although her first ever album was released over two decades ago in 1995, she only recently got back into her music groove in 2018. Pamela has always had a passion for music, singing, playing piano, and cello since a young girl. She is now in a position where she wants to go full-time in her music career, as it has always been a dream for her. So far, she has achieved Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for the Arkansas County Music Awards.

“Squirrel Train” is Pamela’s most recent single, and I must say it is a great one! It a country/soft-rock style song, and it brings about all the good vibes that you need!

The entirety of the song is upbeat and has a catchy drumbeat that makes you move your feet to. The beat is catchy and honestly makes you want to listen to it all day on repeat. Additionally, there is a little guitar solo part way through the song, which is perfect, not being too long, but so effective. The guitar solo is outstanding and catches your ear straight away.

It is clear that Pamela’s vocals are fantastic, and she has so much power in her voice. The country tone to her voice also really adds its greatness.

Go ahead and give Pamela’s “Squirrel Train” a listen to and give her the support that she deserves!

Rhian! – Be My Baby This Christmas

Rhian! is a singer-songwriter who originates from the Caribbean Island, Trinidad, however he is now based in London. Rhian! is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and is slowly rising through the charts.

After previously dealing with other works from him, when I stumbled across his new Christmas release, I was so excited to hear it! He honestly is amazing, and with Christmas right around the corner, I could not wait to get into the festive spirit with his music.

“Be My Baby This Christmas” is a lovely, joyful song that is full of love and festivity. Love at Christmas is honestly such a beautiful thing, and the lyricism in this track is absolutely perfect. This is the kind of tune to dance around whilst with your loved ones during this season, and that just warms the heart.

The vocals in “Be My Baby This Christmas” are also fantastic and Rhian! really shows off his talent in this one. He has also included the use of back-up singers which really highlight his voice but also give about that carol-like feeling.

Luckily, Rhian! has a new EP coming soon, “The Real Rhian!” and it definitely cannot be missed!

All I can say this track is absolutely flawless for the Christmas time, and it needs the praise that it deserves.

S J Denney – Wishful Thinking

S J Denney is singer-songwriter from the UK, who has loved music from an early age. He begun by singing in a choir and playing a clarinet, this then further progressed as he discovered his love for rock music. His greatest influence, even to this day is The Beatles’ ‘White Album’ and Neil Young’s ‘Harvest.’ S J has some other heavy influences including Led Zeppelin, Talk Talk and Jeff Buckley.

Anyway, as we know, it is that beautiful time of year again that is filled with festive cheer, love, and family. Released on 02/12/2022, S J decided to create his own lovely piece for this period, “Wishful Thinking”.

This track is more a laid-back, relaxing Christmas song; however, it really makes you sit back and appreciate what you have at Christmas. The music is quiet with beautiful bell chimes in the background which further adds to the magical feel. Unusually, the instrumental is quite old and classical with gorgeous string instruments being played.

S J’s vocals in this track are also amazing. His soft, soulful voice brings a sense of warmth over us, and really engrosses us within the song. You are bound to get mesmerised by his vocals and fall in love with them instantly.

This is definitely a track for those who love Christmas but also like the peaceful and laid-back side of it.

Rye Catchers – Sometimes

Rye Catchers is the mask over songwriter/music producer David McClintick Roberts. With his first single dropping over two decades ago, he has gained a wide range genre style. He often takes on the electropop style, however you never know what to expect.

“Sometimes” is David’s most recent release, in which he teamed up with Nekane, a Spanish singer to create. This track has hints of the 80s style synth-pop, but also more recent pop too. The song almost brings about a nostalgic feel and this further engrosses us into it. This is 100% the kind of track that you can get up and dance to. The beat is smooth, and the song has incredible flow to it.

I personally fell in love with Nekane’s vocals from the moment I heard them. Her sultry voice brings the element of sass, yet also a more laid-back feel to the song.

I cannot wait to give other music by Rye Catchers a go, as I just love this track. Nekane and David have done exceptionally well in this song. If you are yet to listen to Rye Catchers, then it is undoubtable that you start with “Sometimes” and you will not regret it!

Major Kami – Burns In The Barns

Major Kami (whose real name is Camille Miller) features in the collective group DAMde8, and has created some outstanding pieces of work. Denis started his work on the corner of his dining table in 2020 with a mini master keyboard, and then gathered a group to help him create his masterpieces.

“Burns In The Barns” is his most recent track, and I must say, it is absolutely amazing. This track is vastly different from other kinds that I am used to, as it begins with a female spoken-word introduction, which really engages us. This spoken-word style is maintained throughout in little breaks, and it almost brings about a feeling of fear and melancholy.

This track is an electronic pop, yet cinematic style song, and honestly it just overwhelms you. The music is dark, yet abnormal and you never know what is going to happen next. It almost brings about a sense of madness, relating to the meaning of the song, about suicide.

I am super excited to hear what else Major Kami and his group have in store for us, and this track is so intense, yet so intriguing. If you are in the mood for something a bit more unusual, then sit back and have a little listen to “Burns In The Barns.”

Millie Blooms – Multiply

The UK born and raised, Millie Blooms, is a music artist and producer, who loves to experiment and create music that caters for everyone. Millie has had a passion for music ever since she was in school, and often found herself performing in plays or the choir. This then progressed after she took on a work experience role in a recording studio in Cardiff, which enabled her to learn more about the music industry. Millie has now got her own recording studio where she also collaborates with many other artists.

“Multiply” is Millie’s most recent release, and from the moment I heard it, I was mesmerised. It is female rap-style track, and although this is not usually my cup of tea, when I listened to it, I was so pleasantly surprised.

The music in this one is very minimalised, with a simple beat in the background, and this just makes our attention go straight to the vocals. Part way through the track, we are met with a more relaxed vocal composition, which combines with the rap. I must say Millie’s vocals are absolutely incredible, and she has so many talents.

I am personally thrilled with this track and cannot wait to hear what else Millie has in store for us. “Multiply” is a must listen to!

Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L – Big Monster

Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L is a singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, New York. He has always had an incredible passion for music and used his skills of poetry to help to begin to create his own songs. At a young age, he begun working to enable him to take on singing lessons, and now he is a thriving artist. Breon has also had support from numerous publications such as, Plastic Magazine, WONDERLAND MAGAZINE and Flex.

After previously working with another song by Breon, when I came across this one, I must say I was thrilled! “Big Monster” is his latest single, and I have got to say it is a fantastic one! This rap/hip-hop track has all the perfect components to create a great song! It has a strong beat and amazing tracks. Breon has previously been known for his smooth flows and mellower tones which are often partnered with trap beats and minimalistic melodies. All those elements are definitely present in “Big Monster,” as the song remains catchy and one that you just want to listen to on repeat all day.

The highlight of the song has undoubtedly got to be Breon’s vocals. His voice is smooth and has a constant flow between singing and rapping. Breon’s vocals give me a hint of other big rap stars such as Drake and Lil Nas X.

Definitely go and give “Big Monster” a listen to, especially if you find yourself to be a rap/hip-hop fan.
