Serena Kaos – Everyone You Know Is Sad

The Portuguese, London-based artist, Serena Kaos, brings a bold and different approach to pop by combining it with indie-rock, dream-pop and even trip-hop. As a lover of music from an early age, Serena began performing live at just 18 years old. She later released a trip-hop album with her former band Soma Zero. In June of 2022, Serena released her first ever single, written and produced by herself. She is now building up her career more and more and is on the path to having a successful year in 2023, full of music.

“Everyone You Know Is Sad” is a new single, that has just been dropped by Serena. The track is an alternative-pop hit that is just incredible. The beat is quite relaxing and medium paced, yet I find this song incredibly catchy and find myself constantly wanting to move my body along to it. The music is very euphoric and listening to it is a total out of this world experience.

I must say I absolutely love the vocals in this track, as we hear her voice in so many different ways. Her voice in some moments of the track is almost distorted, making the song have a hint of darkness to it. Serena’s vocals are amazing, and the way she sings is so beautiful.

All I can say about this track is listen to it! My words do not give it enough justice, the song is absolutely incredible!

Clinton N – Circles

Clinton, who is now based in Ireland but originally from Hong-Kong, makes music that is chilled, euphoric, and melodic. Clinton’s music stretches over multiple genres, as he takes inspiration from many artists such as Porter Robinson, Yiruma, Shallou, Above & Beyond and Sleepy Fish. At this moment, his music is on many platforms (Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer), and he has over 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Clinton has recently dropped another new single, “Circles.”

“Circles” is an electronic pop track, with a very euphoric vibe. It is the kind of track that makes you feel like you are entering another dimension, and it is just incredible. Since my first time hearing this track, I have just kept listening to it over and over again, because I just cannot get enough of it!

The vocals in this one have been kept to a minimum, and the electric music is the main focus of the song. The lack of vocals really draws us in, making us appreciate the music. However, the vocalism is once again amazing, and his voice is flawless.

Especially if you are a fan of electronic pop, give this track a listen to and you will not regret it!

Andrea Ward – Awake At Night

Andrea Ward is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and dancer, who reaches out to fuse music with dance. Andrea released her newest single, “Awake At Night” in November 2022 and I absolutely love it!

This song is one that takes elements from every side of the music industry, and mashes them together, to create a more unusual sound. The music is quiet and has a slow tempo, yet it has some different sounds within the track. Towards the later part of the track, there are various noises, including footstep sounds, crashing of cymbals and many others.

Andrea’s vocals have got to be my favourite part of the song, as she sings so brilliantly. Her voice is enticing and has an effect of relaxing and peacefulness.

Every single musician that is included in this song has done exceptionally well and I cannot fault this song at all. Its uniqueness is what draws people in and gets the wrapped up in the music.

Take some time to give Andrea and her track a listen to, and there is even a lovely music video to accompany it on YouTube!

Laura Dannan – Midlife Crisis

Laura Dannan is a music artist originated in Hertfordshire, UK. Laura has many skills, including the ability to play the drums (creating a drumming series on YouTube), play the guitar, and even write her own songs. She has spent the past year performing her songs at small concerts and festivals and has now taken that next step to release her first ever single, “Midlife Crisis.”

“Midlife Crisis” dropped at the beginning of December, and I have got to say it is a great one! The acoustic, folk style song is not usually my cup pf tea, but who doesn’t love to hear something different every once in a while? Because I must say after hearing this, I was pleasantly surprised.

Laura’s vocals in this track are incredibly raw and realistic. I personally love her voice and the lyrics are just as great! With lyrics having a kind of funny side to them, Laura explores the world of being a middle-aged mum and how life can sometimes seem boring. This track is definitely something that many women can listen and relate to!

The instrumental side of the track is also lovely, and with the music only being acoustic, her vocals are not overpowered.

I absolutely love this song, and it is one that you cannot breeze past!

Frank Joshua – What Price A Smile

The anonymous man without a face, Frank Joshua, is an artist who is based in London, UK. Frank has been a lover of music ever since he was a young boy, starting off with being a DJ whenever him and his friends were listening to music. This passion has now expanded, to the point where he has released eighteen new tracks all within the past two years. His reasoning of being faceless is to ensure his music is enjoyed, and there is no focus on the artist that it comes from.

After previously hearing another track of Frank’s, when I stumbled across his newest single “What Price A Smile,” I was over the moon. The single was dropped on 16/12/2022, and I must say it is amazing!

Although this electronic/dream pop style, is not usually something I would choose to listen to, Frank’s work has completely changed my mind. I find his music dream-like and incredibly mesmerising. The upbeat tempo allows our minds to be cleared and makes us want to just get up and dance. The electronic beat is amazing, and he creates sounds of heaven.

The vocals in this track are also amazing! I found myself shocked with how great his vocalism is, as he has voice that you just want to listen to all day!

Ultimately, give the anonymous Frank Joshua and his work a listen to, and you will find yourself a lover of it!

Fat Cat Affair – Up At Dawn

Fat Cat Affair, a European artist, makes music of R&B, pop and funk style. Fat Cat spent years traveling across Europe, trying to find somewhere for him to settle down. During his time in Paris, he found an old piano, made a drum kit out of old bin lids and paint pots, and that is when his journey began properly. The whole identity of Fat Cat is extremely entertaining and gets you feline good!

“Up At Dawn” is Fat Cat’s newest single and I got to say it is purr-fect!

As soon as I found out about this musician, I was eager to listen to some of his music, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Fat Cat has teamed up with Clay Agnew, to create this amazing piece.

The sound of his paw strumming the guitar is definitely out of this world, as the rhythm is catchy and memorable! Additionally, the piano and drumbeat are incredible and all of them together is like a match made in heaven. The music almost makes us want to get up and dance with our loved ones. Another amazing element of the song has got to be the lyrics, as he sings all about that warm feeling you get whilst waking up next to the one you love. The song is absolutely beautiful, and one that I have been obsessed with since I heard it for the first time.

Undoubtedly, the vocals in this track are amazing. He sings with such heart and soul, and the purity of his voice make the song that much more interesting.

Fat Cat and his music is one that you will not forget, so you should definitely have a listen! Ultimately his music is paw-some!

Samantha Knight – Dreaming

Samantha Knight is new artist, who has just begun her music career within the last three years. After doing covers and previously performing in multiple venues, she is now building up her own music, with numerous singles being released, including her first ever single, “Dreaming.”

This track by Samantha is a very slow-paced acoustic tune, but it is so good! The music is quite peaceful, and the use of minimal instruments really lets her vocals shine through. The acoustic guitar is a great touch to the song and keeps the song enticing.

Her vocalism is so beautiful, and her melodic, soulful voice is lovely to listen to. Samantha has the kind of voice that you automatically fall in love with from the moment you hear it. The lyricism is another fantastic element to the song, as she sings about her and her lover, and how she dreams for them to be together forever. The meaning is quite sweet, and almost warms us when we hear it.

Fortunately for us, we have not got to wait long to hear other music by Samantha as she has two other new singles coming soon! But for now, “Dreaming” has got to be heard, so go and give it a little listen!

The Marsh Family – In The Bleak

The Marsh Family is a six-person family band from Kent, UK, who write and record their songs in their own home. Ever since the children were born, they have all loved music and sung together, and they have now reached a point where they are releasing their own music. They have previously performed on BBC Morning Live and also played on BBC Radio 2.

The Marsh Family have gone above and beyond by raising spirits in lockdown on the Jimmy Kimmel Live (2020), the BBC’s Comic Relief (2021) and even released a single to address the importance of and campaign for Prostate Cancer UK.

Luckily for us, they are back with their newest Christmas single, “In The Bleak” and with Christmas just right around the corner, it is the perfect track.

“In The Bleak” is a more laid-back, slow-paced festive tune, but it is absolutely beautiful. The musical side of this track is amazing, with the use of pianos and chime-like sounds, really adds to that Christmassy feel. The song builds up as it goes on, gaining some speed and power, which means you never feel bored whilst listening to it.

Every single vocalist in this single does an exceptional job. Although they all have their different sounds, every voice is unique and so skilful. I honestly could not pick which artist is my favourite as they are all just that good!

“In The Bleak” is one that will undoubtedly be added to my own personal playlist, as ever since I first heard it, I have just kept playing it on repeat! I don’t think I can recommend this song enough and give it the justice that it deserves, so honestly go and give it a listen too!

The Marsh Family have created an out of this world song, and I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us.

Sombertrap – The Distance (between Before and After)

I don’t know about you guys, but I know for me personally, I love to switch things up and take a moment to relax to a more sombre track. Sombertrap have created a song that is perfect for this, and it is their newest release “The Distance.”

I wouldn’t say that I am usually a fan of instrumentals, but from the first time that I heard this track, I was ultimately mesmerised. Instrumentals really allows us to appreciate the music that is being played, and I honestly cannot find a single fault in this song.

You may argue that the sound resembles a clock, and its ticking. This creates an unusual atmosphere, but also somewhat excites us. For me, “The Distance” has a similar sound of the musical side of artists such as Coldplay.

The track is a piano-led piece, that brings about an element of peace. The melodies and rhythm are absolutely beautiful, and it remains like this throughout the entire duration of the song.

If you are in the mood for a more laid-back, melancholic sound, then you must give this a one a little listen to and you will not be disappointed!

Denni Ian – So This Is How We Dance

Denni Ian is a Danish musician, writer, and painter, and expresses himself through music of folk and post-punk style.

Denni Ian is back again with his latest release “So This Is How We Dance,” and he even has a beautiful music video of a young lady dancing gracefully to accompany it.

From the moment I first heard “So This Is Howe We Dance” I was in love with it. The folk track has a lovely instrumental with raw vocals. It is a very laid back, yet heavily emotional song, that can almost bring a tear to your eye.

I am a lover for Denni’s voice, as although his voice is different from other modern-day artists, his uniqueness and purity really attract the listener, and engrosses us within the song. As usual, Denni’s lyricism is outstanding, and holds so much meaning.

If you are a lover for great lyrics, amazing instrumental, and fantastic vocals, then you must definitely give “So This Is How We Dance” a listen to!
