Kortnee Simmons – Love Me, Leave Me

Kortnee Simmons is a rising star, who uses his past, personal life experiences to create his own music. Kortnee was originally born in New York, and here he found his passion for music at a very young age. Ever since he was a little boy his life has been dedicated to music, and he has not stopped since! In 2007, Kortnee was first noticed by Maurice Starr, which led to him getting the chance to perform with Chris Brown!

Kortnee released a fantastic R&B hit earlier on in 2022 called “Love Me, Leave Me”. I cannot deny this song’s greatness, and how it is so captivating. The beat just makes you want to move to the sound, and honestly you cannot get through this song with at least bopping your head to it. It has a quite relaxed sound to it, yet it is still so powerful.

Unquestionably, Kortnee is an amazing vocalist! The way he sings is perfect for an R&B track, and his voice is incredibly soothing. Throughout the song we get to hear his ability, with him being able to reach extremely high notes towards the end.

Honestly just wow! I love this song and it will definitely be one that I do not forget! Have a little listen for yourself now!

Illuminade – Spoonflower

Illuminade is a musician and a producer, who is commonly known for his guitar playing and his use of bass loops. Illuminade, who is based in Houston, has been creating his own trip-hop and electronic music since 2020, and has not stopped since.

“Spoonflower” is a single he released at the very beginning of 2022 and is what we are looking at today. Although I am not usually a lover for instrumentals and songs without vocals as soon as I heard this track I was mesmerised! This is a very psychedelic, electronic track which ultimately creates an extreme sense of mystery when you listen to it. The beat is relaxed yet very catchy and is something that you will find yourself humming to later in the day.

This songs production cannot be faulted in anyway at all! I do not know about you, but this is the kind of track I would be listening to whilst studying or working, as it just has that calming effect.

Illuminade is an immensely unique yet amazing artist, and his music that he has put together must be heard by everyone!

Zoplo – Are We There Yet

Zoplo is the musical personality of a hip-hop vocalist and songwriter. Zoplo is from Toronto, Canada, and they have spent their teenage years writing music in various psychiatric facilities. Since they have started their music career, they have had the chance to open for artists such as, D12, Yung Lean and Odd Future. Zoplo has recently been creating more and more music, and they have now just released their newest single, “Are We There Yet.”

“Are We There Yet” is a crazy hip-hop/rap hit, that I absolutely love! This is the kind of track you cannot miss, and undoubtedly everyone can love.

This track has more of a relaxed, downbeat tone to it, but it is one you can enjoy, especially if you are a hip-hop fan. The music in this song feels like it is taking us to another dimension with its sweet sound, yet it is incredibly meaningful. Zoplo has previously explained that this track is to reach out to those who have grown up with a mental illness.

It is unarguable that his vocals in this one are amazing! The way his voice is presented is lovely, however you can hear that pain and soulfulness in it.

If you have not heard Zoplo yet, then you must give them a little listen to! I can envision big things for this artist and cannot wait to see where they end up!

Occurrence – Heels Over Head

Occurrence have just dropped their newest hit, and I must say, it is not one to miss!

Occurrence are a New York based band made up of two college friends, Ken Urban and Cat Hollyer, who rekindled their friendship after many years. They were later joined by Johnny Hager and formed a 3-piece group. They have done some incredible things in their time together, including the donations to anti-gun violence campaigns, from their mini album ‘If He Were Here.’

Anyway, “Heels Over Head” is their newest track which has influences from alternative-pop, synth pop, and even a little bit of rock. As mentioned before, Occurrence are a three-person group, where we have Cat and Johnny as vocalists and Ken is responsible for the electronics. The sound they have created together may not be your usual type, but without a doubt it is incredible.

The vocals are great, with the two artists working together. I love the sound and style they make, and I cannot wait to see what else they may have in store. The beat is incredible, catchy, and memorable, filled with different musical experiments.

Give a little listen to this track and I can promise you that you will enjoy the whole 4 minutes of it! The trio are now also preparing for their new double album ‘Slow Violence,’ which will be released in April 2023.

Tyler Brooker – Shivers

Tyler Brooker is a young British artist, producer, songwriter, YouTuber, Twitch streamer and even a software developer. Within his career he has already released over 150 songs onto YouTube and other music platforms and appeared on both BBC introducing in Suffolk and in Essex. His music is of EDM and electro-house style, however there is always elements of other sub-genres such as hip-hop, dubstep, drum and bass. Tyler is constantly producing more and more music, however today we are having a look into his new remix, “Shivers.”

This track is a remix of Ed Sheeran’s amazing track “Shivers.” As a lover of the song already, when I heard this remix, I was super excited! I did not think you could make a great song greater, but Tyler has clearly done it here!

The original is upbeat as it is, however, Tyler has completely transformed this into a party, house song, that would be perfect to dance to with your friends in a nightclub. He has created a brilliant build up to the choruses which lead to a fantastic groovy beat drop.

Another thing I like about this remix is that Tyler has used his own vocals, which gives the song a whole different vibe. His vocals are also outstanding, and I love listening to his voice!

If you are looking for that brilliant house music which really gets you up on your feet, then give this one a little listen to!

Monroe Moon – Just A Little Bit Longer

Monroe Moon is a musical duo, who specialise in indie-pop, and are known for their dark, poetic lyrics. From the moment I first heard Monroe Moon’s music I was intrigued, so today we are reviewing their latest single “Just A Little Bit Longer.”

“Just A Little Bit Longer” is a soft rock/indie pop style of song, and I must say it is incredible!

The highlight of this track for me has got to be the sweet-sounding guitar, that is present throughout the track and gives the song more of a rock sound. With the addition of a beautiful, soft guitar solo in the later part of the track, you will find yourself completely wrapped up in the song. The instrumental of this track is lovely and is the kind that makes you sit back and relax.

Undoubtedly, the female vocalism in “Just A Little Bit Longer” is amazing! Her voice is extremely melodic and angel-like. The way she sings has a soothing effect, and I honestly cannot fault them!

This is one of those songs that everybody of any age can enjoy, so definitely give it a little listen to! Also keep an eye out for any new music being released by them!

Piper Cole – Oh Honey

Piper Cole, a singer-songwriter from Vancouver, experiments with different music styles to create her own sound. You will often find her combining acoustic folk with more modern synths. Cole has previously been compared to major artists like Kate Bush. Her soft vocals and creative production style are unique and even somewhat nostalgic.

“Oh Honey” is Cole’s most recent single, that was just released in December of 2022! From the moment I heard this track I was mesmerised, and thought yes, this is amazing!

The highlight of this track for me has got to be her sweet-sounding vocals. Her voice has reminiscence of an angel, and I honestly fell in love with it the second she began singing. Cole sings in her own style, and I cannot fault the way she presents herself.

The music in this one is a strange one. As always, the artist has combined her folk style with more experimental synths. The way this song is pitched together it creates a relaxing effect, and is perfect for a rainy day.

After hearing this track, I am so excited to see what else she has in store for us. And luckily for us, Cole will continue to release more singles throughout 2023, to push her music career forward.

Romain Gutsy – The Girl From Kerry

Romain Gutsy is a French-born singer-songwriter, whose career kicked off over 30 years ago. In the 90s Romain was in multiple different French bands and got to play with other famous artists such as the band Soul Asylum and singer Calvin Russel. However, now, decades later, Romain has returned but this time as a solo artist!

Due to previously working with another song of Romain’s, when I discovered his newest single “The Girl From Kerry” I could not wait to get started. This track is very laid-back and almost breezy with its melodies. This song gives me a quite old-fashioned energy, and a song I could even see be featured in a movie! The musical side of the track is very simplistic, however this allows Romain’s vocals to be heard and appreciated.

The vocals are great in this track, as Romain sings with such power but reality. His voice has that tone to it that you just love to hear, as he does not sound like every other ordinary modern-day artist.

This track is of folk style, but you will never find yourself bored during it! Give Romain Gutsy and his track, “The Girl From Kerry” a little listen to, and you will undoubtedly love it!

Anton Commissaris – She’s Not The Hurting Kind

Anton Commissaris, a music composer, pianist, and vocalist, is a lover of music, but has always been an extreme sucker for jazz. Anton is based in San Francisco Bay Area and takes musical inspiration from artists such as Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim. However, his vocal style stems from inspiration from artists such as Frank Sinatra and Paul McCartney.

Today we are having a look at one of Anton’s most recent tracks, “She’s Not The Hurting Kind,” which is off the EP, “Off The Shelf.” After previously hearing another track from this EP, I was super excited to hear another one!

“She’s Not The Hurting Kind” is undoubtedly a swinging, jazz track. This one is quite laid back, yet the unusual drum pattern makes you bop your head along to the song. Anton has included a lot of jazz elements track to this song and although jazz is usually like marmite (you either love it or you hate it), somehow, he finds a way to create a song that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Anton’s vocals are incredibly good, as his voice is quite deep, it kinds of add a mysterious touch to the track.

Jazz fan or not, check out “She’s Not The Hurting Kind,” and I guarantee you will find yourself jamming along to it!

This song is a release from his project, ILLUZIONS and he has teamed up with his duo partner Bayla G. “In Love” is perfect electronic/dance pop hit, that would sound awesome in a nightclub. Something about this track just mesmerises you, and makes you want to listen to it on repeat all day!

The song is upbeat, cheerful and a great one to dance to!

I must say the vocals in this track are also incredible! With the female vocalist, Bayla G, taking lead, you find yourself loving her voice! She sings so softly and sweetly, and she is definitely someone I want to hear more of!
