Let’s start this off with who is MDK FLA? Well, to answer that one, MDK FLA is a US based artist, otherwise known as Matthew Cobis. Now, the interesting thing about Matthew is that his music is one that you just cannot seem to categorise. This is due to one song being of hip-hop style, but then another being heavy metal. Every song is unique and has a combination of different genres, making his music so intriguing!
However, that is not all. MDK FLA is a new creation, that begun a few years ago, despite Matthew not having loads of musical knowledge to start off with. Therefore, instead of having your usual music lover from the age of five, you have an artist who started from nothing. Despite this factor, the music that he has created is actually amazing, and cannot be faulted!
Today we are looking into MDK FLA’s most recent album drop, “Elixir,” and I have to say it is a fantastic way for Matthew to end the year! The album includes ten different tracks, that possess elements of electronic-pop, rock, hip-hop and even some metal!
The first track of the album, ‘You Better Run’ is a wonderful way to kick off the album, with a dance/electronic created feel to it. This song ultimately raises your spirits and has you eager to hear what else MDK FLA have in store for us in this album!
The music definitely fits under the dream-pop/electronic style, yet each song hits us with a different surprise! For example, track number seven, ‘Sell Out,’ includes a more rock feel. This song has a harsh beat with an obvious use of an electric guitar, which takes the music away from the dance side of things and pushes it towards Matthew’s edgy side.
For me, I love every single track on this album, but my, just about, favourite has got to be ‘True Accord.’ This one has heavy influence of hip-hop, with a portion of rock too! These vocals are also more of rap like, and I personally have not been able to stop listening to it since I heard it!
Ultimately, this album is just FANTASTIC! This has got to be one of the most interesting collection of songs I have ever heard, and I honestly cannot recommend MDK FLA enough! Give him a little listen to and you will undoubtedly love him!
